About The Cabin Index

The Cabin Index is a small, independent UK website that helps people choose a garden office: either a kit log cabin they build themselves, or a garden room built by a local firm. It started because comparing cabins across sellers is surprisingly hard – every site describes sizes, walls and “what's included” differently.

What we do – and don't do

• We compare published specs and prices. We haven't tested, seen or built these cabins.
• We don't give star ratings, scores or review counts, and we don't copy reviews from other sites.
• We don't use sellers' product photos (we'd need their permission) or pretend stock images are real products.

How we collect the facts

1. We open each seller's own product page and record the price (including VAT) and the specification it states.
2. We write down what the price includes – floor, roof covering, delivery, installation – because this varies a lot.
3. If the page doesn't say something, we leave it blank and show “not stated”. We never guess or fill gaps from other sources.
4. Every cabin page links to its source and shows the date we checked it. We recheck prices regularly and mark anything discontinued.

Today we list 88 cabins from 6 sellers and 19 garden room builders. Data last checked 20 October 2026.

How we group and pick

Lists are sorted by price, cheapest first, unless you choose otherwise. Our “best for” pages use simple rules that are written at the top of each page – for example, a year-round home office must have walls of 44mm or more, double glazing as standard and a floor included. Anything that meets the rule is included. We only publish a page once at least 3 cabins or builders qualify.

Garden room builders are listed in alphabetical order, with facts taken from each firm's own website. We check a firm's site is genuine and current before listing it.

Independence and money

No seller or builder can pay to be included, to rank higher or to change what we say. In future we plan to earn money through affiliate links (a small commission if you buy through our link) and by charging builders for introductions you ask for. If we ever offer paid “featured” spots for builders, they will be clearly labelled and kept separate from our lists. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.

Prices change often. If something is wrong or out of date – including if you're a seller or builder – email hello@thecabinindex.co.uk and we'll check and correct it.
